Marbury v. Madison/War of 1812 Overview

Marbury v. Madison
introduces the concept of JUDICIAL REVIEW -- the Supreme Court has the power to declare a law is either constitutional or unconstitutional

War of 1812 (Second War for Independence/Mr. Madison's War)

The US goes to war once again with Britain - over failure to evacuate forts in the Ohio River Valley and the impressment of US seamen. (captured and force them to serve in the British Navy)

The US ultimately wins - which proves our success as an independent nation.

Andrew Jackson scores a big victory in the Battle of New Orleans -- but the war was already over, but neither side had heard the news yet.
